Alfonso Mejia, MD, MPH

Dr. Alfonso Mejia is an academic hand and upper extremity surgeon at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he serves as Vice Head of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Program Director of the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency. He has held national leadership positions within the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, including Chair of the Board of Councilors, and currently serves as First Vice President of the Clinical Orthopaedic Society. Dr. Mejia is also an examiner for ABOS examinations, the series medical editor for the AAOS EMS textbooks, and a Tactical Emergency Response Physician. Dr. Mejia is deeply committed to resident education, mentorship, and promoting diversity within orthopaedics.
