Dr. Michael Clarke selected for Missouri alumni award
Dr. Michael Clarke of Springfield, Missouri, has been selected for the 2010 distinguished alumnus award of The University of Missouri. After graduating from Northwestern University, Dr. Clarke attended medical school at the University of Missouri, followed by surgical training at Vanderbilt University and the Campbell Clinic of Orthopedic Surgery.
Dr. Clarke joined the Clinical Orthopedic Society in 1982, served two terms on the executive board and chaired the Publications Committee, which led to his work with the JSOA (Journal of Surgical Orthopedic Advances) as associate editor and now editor emeritus.
Dr. Clarke is a retired Army Colonel, a veteran of Desert Storm/Desert Shield, Yugoslavia and Afghanistan. He is an associate clinical professor of orthopedic surgery. He received the 2001 distinguished alumnus award of Springfield Catholic Schools. He, along with his state champion high school basketball team, was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.
He has been active with the Boy Scouts of America as council and area President and as a central region director and received the Silver Beaver and Silver Antelope awards.
Dr. Clarke has practiced orthopedic surgery in Springfield, Missouri, for 37 years.
