Meyer, MD The 2010 annual meeting of The Clinical Orthopaedic Society will be held in Denver Colorado between September 23 - 25. The meeting will be held at the Ritz-Carlton. The meeting will be co-chaired by Dr. Steve Morgan and Dr. Wade Smith. Both of these physicians have chaired numerous successful meetings in the past so this will be an excellent meeting. Denver, the Mile High City is located at the base of the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains. It is a beautiful city with a breathtaking skyline, framed against the majestic Rocky Mountains. Denver is extremely easy to get to by flying into Denver International Airport, which is a hub for United Airlines. If you wish, Amtrak’s California Zephyr is a short over-night train ride from Chicago and stops in the middle of Denver’s beautiful LoDo district which contains numerous shops and restaurants. Denver provides numerous opportunities for extracurricular activities, as it is the perfect blend of outdoor activities and urban sophistication. Denver has world-class restaurants, shopping and sporting events all within a short distance from the hotel. Should you choose to venture out, Denver has a modern light rail system. Taxis and limousines are also readily available. It is the arts capital of the west with hundreds of museums and galleries. There are numerous bike trails that allow you to explore major attractions or you can take a day trip into the beautiful Rockies. If you like to eat, Denver is the place to be. During the day, there are breakfast bistros, power lunch cafes and trendy dinners. At night, there are nationally recognized restaurants with cuisines to satisfy any taste. Don’t forget about Denver’s night-life. From upscale wine and martini bars, to hot salsa clubs, to neighborhood bars and rooftop patios, there is always something to do. Denver is also world-famous for its microbreweries. Bring the children. Denver is a fantastic “kid friendly” place to visit. There are plenty of places to entertain the children while visiting Denver including Boondocks Fun Center, the Children’s Museum of Denver, Heritage Square Music Hall, Elitch Gardens, and Tiny Town and Tiny Town Railroad. For those who love the outdoors, Denver is a paradise with opportunities for golf, tennis, hiking, jogging biking, or climbing. It is also close to great fishing and hunting. The weather that time of year is usually beautiful with average highs in the 70s and lows at night in the 40s.
