96th Annual Meeting Thanks to Commercial Supporters
|
A Message From The PresidentDear Members of the COS: I want to take this opportunity to congratulate Dr. Angus McBryde, our 96th Our 97th Meeting will be September 10 - 12 in Point Clear, Alabama. This is a superb destination with excellent facilities as well as a wonderful recreational environment. It is but a short ride to the beach, and the towns of Fair Hope and Foley. Both have wonderful shopping experiences that I know your spouses will enjoy. Dr. Fred Meyer is our program chair and is already well on his way to providing us with outstanding scientific sessions. If you are a golfer, the course at the resort is on the Robert Trent Jones golf trail and has been significantly revamped in recent years. Your Board is hard at work in several areas. We are preparing an initiative to exploit the “clinical” aspect of our name and its relevance to practicing orthopaedic surgeons. This will be accompanied by an effort to expand our mentoring initiative. In addition to the above, I will remind you that to grow any organization requires the recruitment of new members. I would encourage each and every member to do their best to try to recruit at least one new member as the life of this organization depends on it. Finally, the Board is also working on two fronts for the Centennial Meeting in 2012 to be held in Chicago, Illinois, where the first meeting was held in 1912. These initiatives involve both the early planning stages for that meeting, as well as an initiative to increase our endowment via the OREF. There will be more information coming about these initiatives. Both Leslie and I look forward to seeing you and yours at the Point Clear meeting in September of 2009! Yours truly, Dabney Y. Hofammann, MD |
