COS will celebrate its centennial in 2012
Dear COS Member,
In 2012 our society will be 100 years old! To celebrate this remarkable milestone we hope to fund a $500,000 endowment for the society from both cash and deferred gifts. Income from this endowment will be used to allow young physicians to attend our meetings and receive training from COS members who are expert in the art of the physical exam. This art is being lost as many of our younger physicians are relying more and more on imaging and tests to make a diagnosis, adding unnecessarily to the cost of care and increasing patients' exposure to radiation.
As a society of leaders, COS has always recognized the importance of a skillful physical exam. Thanks to patients who share our commitment to quality care, a live demonstration of the exam has been a hallmark of COS meetings for the past 100 years.
